Ma'am & Am

Jonah knows my name and Adam's. I'm ma'am. Adam is Am. It's quite thrilling for both of us to hear him call our name over and over again when he wants us.
Now, due to the similarities between our names, he's starting to get us mixed up. Today Adam was Am only 65% of the time and Ma'am for 35%. But he never calls me Am which proves that he does know the difference.

As I finished my run this morning and approached our house, Jonah, who was in Adams arms as he put a new tire on Bridget's bike, looked up and before I was in earshot, I could tell his lips were saying, "Ma'am, ma'am, ma'am."

As for other words he says...
Will is Wa
He doesn't say Bridget or Luke yet but he starts to laugh when I do the sign for their names.


Oh the love a baby brings to a family! None of us can get enough!

Oats

This is what I have for breakfast everyday. Sometimes I even have it for lunch. It's that good. I really do crave this stuff.

So here's how I make it:
Put 1/2 - 3/4 cup oatmeal in a bowl. Add water to barely cover the oats...I like it kind of chewy*** so I don't put as much as the box calls for.

Cook in microwave for 2-3 minutes or until all the water is absorbed.
At this point I like to let it cool a bit. And it firms up even more.

Top with (in this order):
chopped fresh fruit...my favorites are strawberries or blueberries.
drizzled honey
vanilla yogurt
nuts (I prefer whole almonds)
sometimes I sprinkle wheat germ on too.
pour a little milk around the edge.

Enjoy your little bowl of manna from heaven and then go get after your morning!


***I love it lumpy. Just like Grandpa Bridge. For all the cousins who need their oatmeal whipped to smithereens...this will not fly with you. But I'll say this--you are missing out!

BYU soccer

Luke and Will kicked off their spring soccer season with a BYU soccer camp taught by the BYU men's soccer team. With BYU being the college team of choice around here they were very excited for this. This is Will's first year to play and he is rearin' to go. He loved putting on one of Luke's old jersey's, borrowing Bridget's shin guards and Luke's old socks(not too old) I'm glad they have a sport that they can enjoy together.

This is what Will's been up to...Building awesome stuff out of duplo's and lego's. Including a tower that touched the ceiling. (We made that when he stayed home from church with pink eye) Going to preschool with 8 other little boys. He loves it. I think all the mom's have to brace themselves when it's their turn to teach. I know I do. Energy, noise, battles and sweetness.

I enjoyed watching Jonah enjoy watching Adam fix. Notice that he's biting his nail as he looks on. Very interesting!

Jonah fell asleep on our Sunday afternoon walk. It's soothing and peaceful to look at a sleeping baby.

Playground skills

The kids love to take us to their school park to show us what they like to do at recess. Bridget especially, being the queen of the monkey bars, continues to advance in her skills and loves to show us.

Happy Birthday Jonah and Will

After homemade pizza we enjoyed yummy yellow cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and fresh strawberries. Will is a berry boy...loves all berries. (by the way, the cupcake recipe is from Deceptively Delicious and has pureed pumpkin in it and it was gooood)

A rousing game of "Unwrap when you roll doubles" was played with everyone doning the lovely fur hat and accessories. Laughter and excitement.

Each of us wrote a wish for the birthday boys on a balloon and then they did the honors of sending them off to where balloons with wishes go. It was very exciting! We watched them for a long long time. There was wonder and magic in Will's eyes as he watched the sky envelope his wishes and dreams. Later on he told me he's pretty sure they landed in Virginia! He meant to call his cousins and ask if they had found them.
